Green Neighbors Program

The Clark County Green Neighbors Program was developed and is maintained by Clark County Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach to assist citizens with developing more sustainable lifestyles and building a strong environmental community in Clark County. Solid waste regional planning and programs are a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt. Funding for this project provided by a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.

Ready to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle through WasteBusters?

First, pick your pledge and register for the WasteBusters Challenge. This habit-changing pledge runs for 21 days from March 10th–30th. You will receive a reminder email to officially begin, but feel free to start reducing waste any time!

Watch for posts from the WasteBusters team page on the Challenge Dashboard. Throughout the challenge, we will prompt you on how to reduce waste and earn points. Make sure to check in periodically to share your progress and learn new ways to bust waste!

WasteBusters Points and Prizes

Stay engaged in WasteBusters through the profile you just created to earn points and be eligible for prizes! We’re giving away some awesome Green Neighbors gear to our top waste-busters. You can see your total score at any time on your profile page. For our grand prize, all participants who earned at least 500 points will be added to a random drawing for an iPad Mini! Go Solo or Join a Group!

Unify your business or organization by teaming up to take on the WasteBusters challenge together. The more co-workers and friends that join your group, the larger the impact you will have. To up the stakes, create incentives within your organization to encourage co-workers to bust waste. For example, you could award a prize to the top point-earner in your group! Be creative and have fun!

How do you earn points?

Although the focus of the WasteBuster Challenge is all about busting waste, you earn points by checking in and sharing your progress with other Challengers. Most of these actions aren't eligible for points until the challenge begins on March 10th, but if you register early you can get a jump start by inviting friends, creating or joining groups, and reading the resource pages! Earn 500 points by the end of the Challenge and you qualify to be in the grand prize drawing.
